Just had an email from Zenith sports:

We have a special deal for beginners. Helmet, Gloves, arm pads and stick for just £99. Ideal of for either Uni kit or individuals. We can also do a mix and match deal covering any combo of equipment.

The deals are based on the either Riddell Revolution helmet or Cascade CLH2 helmet

You will have a choice of either Warrior, Gait or STX beginners sticks.

This isn't a bad deal for anyone want to get their own stuff (the smell of kit aint so bad when its your own lol)

Can you please let me know if you want any other information or if you want to go ahead with this,

Dan

This is sorta on topic but isn't in a way if someone can answer, i dont know what position im gonna keep on playing but played Attack last match and loved it sure gonna practice like hell to try and keep it, so if i am gonna go attack what is the best stick, equipment to get, especialy stick what im looking for, asked around and response i got to get a titanium as easier to run with and control and not get a wooden.

If anyone could post/link me up to a few good sticks would be cool Smile

and the size of the large helmets, as my head is larger than the average bear.

would u recommened this deal or is the uni equiptment better in ur opinion?

Ok here is as detailed a response as I have time for:

What is the best stick:
There genuinely isn't an answer to this, its all personal preference. But the rule of thumb for heads usually is
If you want to face you need a stiff head or be prepared to replace it often
If you play D a Stiff wide head makes poke checks more accurate, interceptions better and groundballs easier
If you play Attack or Midfield a narrower head makes it harder for the D to get the ball
and for shafts
If you can afford it get Titanium
If you play D you really do need a longpole
Also if you are a transitional player that doesn't get checked too often get the lightest shaft you can BUT remember lighter = weaker always!
Wooden = more impact on check, but is heavy (pretty cool though!)

As for teh kit in teh offer -
I would say Helmet wise the Riddell (£98 ) is one of the best on the market at the minute for concussion protection BUT it is very heavy and looks ugly. Cascade is generally considered the best all round helmet with the CPX Ti (£175) being top of the line (they are bringing a new helmet out in November, no idea if its better or not) but the CLH2 (£75) is an entry model probably equal to the Uni helmets.

The Gloves you get in the kit won't be as good as the uni ones I think, Arm pads and stick will be the same BUT to put it in perspective if you want to get even the basic level stuff out of this offer its about £25 stick, £20 arm pads, £35 Gloves, min £75 helmet = min £155

however once again, I would say to people that if there is anything specifically that you would want to get a better model off, just ask - and as for sticks ask if you can try other peoples out!

Slightly more detailed response written last year in this thread:

another thing abouit sticks is that the way they are strung can radically change how it throws. stick and try to adapt to the one you get.after a while you can surf on lax sites and forums and find out what you can do to change it to do what you'll then want.
